Today marks the release of the official video for the Gorillaz/James Murphy/Andre 3000 collaboration, “DoYaThing” for Converse. And like so many other things Gorillaz-related, it doesn’t get really good until Jamie Hewlett gets involved. The clip depicts a CGI rendition of 2-D roaming a trashed house shared by some of his cartoon cohorts. But it’s hardly worth describing the nonsensical nature of the clip. Just watch and enjoy.
Major labels don’t have the best reputation. Corporate conglomorates flailing for their very existence while still trying to sell crap music to a public who has zero moral issue with robbing them blind. This rep may or may not be totally deserved, but it’s nice to see one of these giants doing something good for humanity. And in the process reminding us that some damn good music comes out on major labels as well.
EMI has announced the EMI Family 4 Japan auction, a series of EBay offers where you can bid on things like signed Daft Punk photos and race LCD Soundsystem vinyl, with all proceeds going to Japan relief efforts.
