We’re still not clear on the whole fishing motif that The Cool Kids have been jocking for the past year, but 12 months after the Gone Fishing mixtape with Don Cannon, Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks are back with Tacklebox, presented by LA Leakers. The good news is, there’s no “Cannon-Cannon-Cannon” samples all over the place. The bad news, it’s been replaced by “The Los Angeles Leakers!” announcer voice. Proud to present this free EP download for Brownswood Recordings’ latest artist, Ghostpoet. For fans of various hip hop artists that has recently spawned from the UK, Ghostpoet first caught the attention of BBC Radio 1’s foremost tastemaker and owner of Brownswood Recordings, Gilles Peterson, who eventually picked Ghostpoet for a slot in his All Winners 2010 broadcast – an impressive feat for an unsigned bedroom producer.
In preparation for his upcoming LP coming in Fall 2010, Ghostpoet is releasing The Sound of Strangers EP for a free download as an introduction to the general public. This 4 track EP features three original compositions as well as one remix of A Tribe Called Quest’s Electric Relaxation, giving listeners a good representation of where he has been, as well as what’s to come in the near future. More information on his full length album will be released shortly, so please stay tuned…. …MORE

Definitely an interesting sound to hear The Cool Kids on since we’re all so used to their signature yet minimal drum beats. Take a listen here and look out for the rest of the project soon (rumored appearances include Mike Posner, The Sounds, and others)…

Two years after thier powerful debut, the guys can be found standing outside at a bus stop in Wicker Park, Chicago’s watering hole for the hipster population. They are there filming a video for “Champion”, off their Gone Fishing mixtape with Don Cannon. The bus stop is covered with Chicago regulars: director of most of the Cool Kids’ videos, GL Joe, noted photographer Clayton Hauck, Chuck and Mikey’s roomate Tenille- the same people you would see around The …
