We’ve all been in that situation where we’re trying to figure out who the hell to catch at a music festival. So I did all the dirty work for you, of course. I went down the schedule day-by-day and hour-by-hour and chose the people who in my opinion you can’t miss. Don’t worry about having to write down names and acts just print it out here and if you happen to see me around the festival I’ll be glad to kiss it.
Anyone who has seen Bassnectar live knows that the typical rules of electronic music performances don’t apply. Where other artists follow a singular genre, Bassnectar jumps from dubstep to punk to jungle to hip-hop to abstract in the blink of an eye. And while the lines between DJ set (other people’s music) and live set (your own tracks) remain set in stone, Bassnectar bravely bounces between the two, limited only by his own manic energy, and the knobs on his sampler.
So it makes sense that Bassnectar’s latest album, Divergent Spectrum, crosses the same lines, with remixes of Ellie Goulding, Rollz, and Gogol Bordello sitting side-by-side with his own original productions. “Immigrandiada” is the perfect example of all these fusions, taking Gogol Bordello’s hi-octane gypsy-punk, and throttling it further with grinding beats and some heavy metal riffage. Download the song and check the full album tracklist after the jump.

Video is cool but don’t forget, a picture is worth 1,000 words. Check out the pictures from Outside Lands in SF featuring artists and bands like People Under the Stairs, Gogol Bordello, Langhorn Slim, Cat Powers, the Strokes, Al Green, Phoenix, Nas and Damien Marley, and the Kings of Leon.
Outside Lands festival has come and gone and before i pass out from the enormous consumption of food and wine, here is a quick brief of the weekend. Keep in mind there was so much going on this weekend that not everything is going to be here. As a matter of fact, it’s probably going to be in a further blog post when we’re fully rested.
