London jazz singer, Zara McFarlane, will release her follow-up “If You Knew Her” album for Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings label on January 20th, 2014.
In 2010, Zara McFarlane released her self-produced EP “Until Tomorrow” which caught the attention of Gilles Peterson who then signed McFarlane to his Brownswood Recordings imprint. The full length version of “Until Tomorrow” was released in 2011 and critics and fans quickly took notice to Zara’s ability to carry both childlike innocence and womanly assertiveness in equal measure. Performing around the world in support of “Until Tomorrow” McFarlance was selected to perform alongside jazz star Gregory Porter at last years Nina Simone tribute concerts in the Netherlands. Bastard Jazz Recordings is proud to present the sophomore album “Curiosities” by New Zealand multi-instrumentalist and producer, Lord Echo. Lord Echo aka Mike Fabs is known worldwide for his production work with NZ’s biggest reggae export, The Black Seeds, and released his 2010 project “Melodies” which quickly caught the ear of tastemakers worldwide like Gilles Peterson (BBC Radio), Oliver Wang (Soulsides, NPR, etc) and Richard Dorfmeister.
Today the first single featuring two songs off the upcoming album “Digital Haircut” and “Molten Lava” was released. “Molten Lava” is a 70s inspired disco tune featuring the soaring vocals of Leila Adu and “Digital Haircut” features jerky funk vibes that will keep the dance floor going all night long.
Currently on tour with Atoms For Peace, Owiny Sigoma Band releases their Hello Skinny Remix for the song “Harpoon Land.” Hello Skinny is the alias of Owiny Sigoma Band’s drummer, Tom Skinner, and as expected, percussion is the focal point of the remix.
The single to “Harpoon Land” will be released on July 27th via Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings and Owiny Sigoma Band’s recently released full length album “Power Punch” is available now.
Five and two. Both are the respective number of years that the King of Worldwide, Gilles Peterson has played in San Francisco or Los Angeles. It’s no secret that both events will sell out.
