Caribou wowed everyone last year with his album Swim making a splash (hi yo!) with music fans. Now there’s a full remix album being issued to add more lap to the album’s buzz. Remixes by electro-popsters Junior Boys, deep house/disco fave Motor City Drum Ensemble and techno elder DJ Koze all give Swim a new breath of air. Enjoy the whole package right here.

Caribou are following up their hot 2010 with a release of a remix album of their EP Swim. And the title is…wait for it…Swim Remixes. Minimalist, hip, and complete with trippy album art. The band has selected remixes by the likes of Fuck Buttons, Junior Boys, Gold Panda, and Nite Jewel. Check out Motor Drum Ensemble’s eight-minute take on “Leave House.” Cowbell fans rejoice.

On “Sweet Love For Planet Earth,” Fuck Buttons created the sort of first-album first-track monster that could drive any outfit into an early grave. Born to soundtrack Hollywood previews and backyard bong sessions alike, the track proved immediately ubiquitous and divisive, sounding something like Prurient and Air at once. Primal Scream producer Andrew Weatherall’s remix imbued a sweet-natured danciness to it, resulting in a union of pop, dance and noise so successful that the duo invited him to produce the entire follow-up, the new Tarot Sport. The resulting album is a big, sinuous thing, equal parts Lindstrom and Mogwai. Benjamin Power emailed URB to discuss its creation.
