Free Energy is a Philadelphia, PA band which includes Scott Wells, Paul Sprangers, Evan Wells, Geoff Bucknam, and Nick Shuminksy. Wells and Sprangers were both in now-defunct Hockey Night. Free Energy broadcasts melodic, hook-laden rock tunes with a heavy dose of bombastic glam and classic dust.

Hipster-Knack fusionists Free Energy made their debut network TV appearance last night on Letterman. And while most young bands fall flat on television, singer Paul Sprangers has clearly spent enough time singing in front of the mirror to get his mug just right for the cameras. The group’s James Murphy-produced debut album came out digitally last week, but I might be adding FE to the list of bands worth checking out live.
