LCD Soundsystem Covers Franz Ferdinand For Record Store Day (MP3)

Just because LCD Soundsystem called it a day just last week doesn’t mean James Murphy is going to keep quiet. The group recorded a cover of Franz Ferdinand’s “Live Alone” for a limited edition five-song EP of FF covers by the like of Deborah Harry, Peaches, ESG and Stephin Merritt, set to be released on Record Store Day. The LCD number is an extended slow jam, with Murphy unveiling a new side of his voice, a crooning bariton, that plays well with the line, “In New York City, when I get in the taxi…” A continuing love affair with that city. …MORE

Alice and Wonderland x Tim Burton x Soundtrack! (Video)

Tim Burton’s sure to be feast-for-the-eyes, mindblowing take of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, is set to release in theaters March 5th, 2010. The superstar cast includes the likes of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Michael Sheen to name a few… If you aren’t excited already, why not take a little look at the full trailer below, to whet your Alice appetite. And if the wild imagery, colors, and scenes STILL don’t get your mind juices flowing, peruse the just released track-listing (after the jump) of the film’s soundtrack, titled Almost Alice. The soundtrack will feature a variety of rock, pop, punk, indie artists performing old classics. If the idea of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals remake of Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit” doesn’t do it for you, well, I don’t know what will.

MP3: Friendly Fires Jump In The Pool (Thin White Duke Remix)

Friendly Fires have pretty much become this year’s Franz Ferdinand (probably to the chagrin of, um, Franz Ferdinand). But there’s no denying the avalanche of high profile remixes that have clubs jumping. This latest comes from Mr. Rhythms Digitales, otherwise known as Stewart Price, also called The Last Guy To Make Madonna Cool.
