Flying Lotus has become one who likes to make grand gestures out of casual actions. Or maybe we’re the ones who turn his casual gestures into grand actions. Like the time he found an old forgotten DJ mix and turned it into a Stones Throw podcast that wowed the web for a couple of days. Or uploading a selection of rare or unheard tunes to his Soundcloud, including remixes of Bjork, Massive Attack and Stereolab. Remember a few weeks ago when the blogosphere decided to wilfully misinterpret a quote by Flying Lotus about remixing the “new Radiohead record” to mean he was going to rework the whole album? We didn’t fall for the hype, although it certainly got plenty of little fingers a click-click-clickin on the links.
Now there’s some factual information. DeadAirSpace is reporting that the band will release of series of remix 12″ over the summer, starting with Caribou’s remix of “Little By Little” and Jacques Greene’s version of “Lotus Flower.” The record will be released on July 4th and will be sold at “select” indie stores, and online at Boomkat and on Radiohead.com via The King Of Limbs tab.
