DOWNLOAD :: Battles ATP Mixtape (Video & MP3)

Last month, we enjoyed the ATP mix by Caribou, spotlighting his day of the Nightmare Before Christmas event taking place this weekend in England. Now, co-curators Battles have offered upa similar selection of songs by artists performing on their day of the weekend-long gathering. Acts include Flying Lotus, Matias Aguayo, Underground Resistance and Bitch Magnet. Here’s hoping ATP squeezes out one more compilation by the third curators, Les Savy Fav before Friday.

HEAR Thom Yorke BBC 6Mix (MP3)

Radiohead seem to have come to a new point in their storied career, where their own music seems almost secondary to the fact that they bring a constant awareness of new sounds to a mass audience that might not otherwise invest the time in finding new music themselves.

To that end, Thom Yorke took to the mixing board for this week’s BBC 6Mix with a two hour selection of songs that are “inspiring” him right now. And while there’s a lot of obvious selections in the set—J Dilla, Caribou, Jamie XX, Flying Lotus—the real tresures are found in the inclusion of artists such as Dabrye, Ricardo Villalobos & Max Loderbaur, Tapes and Steve Poindexter, whose music flies under all but the most dedicated music fan’s radar.

There is also of course selections from the recently released TKOL 1234567 remix collection, as well as a not before heard “club” mix of Jamie XX’s version of Radiohead’s “Bloom.”

Lee Bannon’s “Search & Destroy” single is out now via Plug Research!

The Sacramento producer has been paying dues for years, producing for folks like Consequence and Busta Rhymes, and his upcoming album “Fantastic Plastic” is dropping early 2012 via Plug Research/Kash Roc Entertainment.

Last week, the legendary DJ Premier premiered the b-side to the single “The Things” featuring Del the Funky Homosapien to a great response. Today, enjoy the free download of the tittle track to the single “Search & Destroy” featuring Chuck English of the Cool Kids. The chemistry between Chuck English over Lee Bannon’s production is undeniable while Lee Bannon stretches the instrumental till the end of the track, somewhat reminiscent of a mix between Madlib and Flying Lotus.

While Flying Lotus has become an international superstar, Steve Ellison’s roots in Northeast Los Angeles continue to inform and inspire the producer, whether found in the many fellow artist on his Brainfeeder label, or in a new project announced in conjunction with filmmaker Miwa Matreyek and the Center For Creative Arts – Eagle Rock, a facility offering “innovative and multicultural art education opportunites through workshops, after school programming, and arts camps.” …MORE
