Seasoned New York native rhymesayer and deejay, Iron Lyon delivers From the Ground Up, a cohesive body of work laden with ’90s nostalgia that brings much needed balance to today’s Hip-Hop landscape. Released as a follow-up to both The Foundation and Time Capsule LPs, released in October 2010 and April of 2011 respectively, FTGU showcases Iron Lyon’s evolved skill set as both emcee and turntablist. When asked to describe his latest offering, Iron Lyon states: “It’s one smooth ride with no filler, a true album from beginning to end, inspired by my life experience.” Hit the jump to wake up give one of this year’s most slept on albums a listen.

Influenced by the likes of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, Aaliyah, Black Sabbath and John Mayer, and borrowing elements of Reggae, Classic Soul and R&B, From the Ground Up speaks to a diverse audience. Lending a balanced contribution to the LP that’s produced entirely by Chad Dubz (co-produced by Mr. Koichi), From The Ground Up boasts guest features from the likes of Sean Price, Edo. G, Slim Kid Tre (of The Pharcyde) as well as the soothing vocal talents of Iskwé and the Twin Cities Nikki Jean. Distributed via Fat Beats, From The Ground Up is now available on CD and iTunes.
