Last Friday, Los Angeles-based photographer Estevan Oriol celebrated the launch of his first book. LA Woman captures his signature raw shooting style, which he began to cultivate in 1992 when he went on the road as the manager of House of Pain. With a hand-me-down camera, Oriol established himself as a go-to photographer for the hip-hop and Latino communities. He boasts working with Hollywood A-list actors like Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Forest Whittaker, along with Eminem and other musicians. G-Shock’s new collaboration with premier artist Mister Cartoon, the DW6900MRC-8 model, was unveiled last weekend at SA Studios in downtown LA to a crowd buzzing with anticipation.
“I chose to collaborate with G-Shock because I have seen the evolution and quality of the watch evolve into an iconic brand,” said Mister Cartoon. “Now I am excited to celebrate this relationship and launch this amazing collaboration piece to the LA market.”
Earlier this year G-Shock gave a preview of the watch by the world famous tattoo artist/car customizer/illustrator/designer at the Shock the World Tour 2009 event in NYC.
The watch was unveiled at the Juxtapoz Art and Culture Magazine 15 year anniversary event last Saturday. The event was like a who’s who of 100 notable contemporary artists, …
