Coming from the Triassic period, the Dino-5 are trampling through to the Neolithic era and are gonna set a hella big dino-print for homosapiens ears to discover on Apr 1st. A collaboration featuring a legendary hip-hop producer and a few MCs will be released as ‘Baby Loves Hip Hop’ (on Baby Loves Music). Blitz Lights Up CMJ

Nomadic Wax, Scion, and the Bloom Effect put on the standout international Hip Hop showcase during this year’s CMJ Music Marathon, at the East Village restaurant and lounge, Drom.

Pharoahe Monch hosted the evening and prepped the crowd for one of URB’s Next 1000 artists: Blitz The Ambassador.

Originally from Ghana, Blitz pays his respects to the hip hop greats like KRS-One, Pharoahe Monch and Rakim, which he credits inspired his journey to America. He served his country well that night garnering the admiration of Pharoahe Monch, who described the show as a “magnanimous display of Hip Hop.”

Blitz took bold moves to bridge the gap between Hip Hop and politics, leaning more revolutionary than rebellious. Fittingly dressed in fatigues, he positioned conscious and clever lyrics against his 6-piece band, …

We kicked off the tour in Los Angeles and are moving east across the country.

I grew up idolizing Rakim and I’m not sure if I’ll ever get over touring with him. This is our second run together and I’m on the bus with him and his family. It’s bugged out for a hip-hop kid from Minneapolis to be awaken in my bunk by Rakim to go …

Ensemble

Released by Fat Cat

Ditching much of the overt electronics found on 2000s Sketch Proposal in favor of the chanteuse-pop just hinted at on that album, Ensemble has become a solo act (Oliver Alary) with much greater potential. But the spirit of collaboration lives on with a much-ado-about-something partnering with Chan Marshall (Cat Power) on lead single 'Disown, Delete,' where the famously reclusive singer stands tall over a lovely bed of minimal stings, courtesy of the Babelsberg Film Orchestra. The same treatment is given to Sebadoh frontman Lou Barlow on 'One ...
