The Drastics – MJ a Rocker (MP3)

When released via Jump Up Records back in 2005, the Drastics’ Premonition was a part of the emerging American fascination in live dub that also included Dub is a Weapon as well as 10 Ft. Ganja Plant.

Today, the band’s still playing in and around Chicago. And in memorium of MJ’s passing, the ensemble posted MJ a Rocker (alt. link: HERE) on its website. The d/l’s comprised of MJ vocal cuts with the Drastics re-working his classics inna dub style. Cop it well.

Tiesto Feat. Tegan & Sara Feel It In My Bones (Stream)

Neither a big Teisto fan nor a Tegan & Sara fan, I was pleased to hear this track because as an ensemble, if you will, I really dig their sound and think merging the styles makes up for what I felt was lacking for both acts to gain my personal rapture. All I can say is that T’s new album Kaleidoscope is going to be a must-listen because, yes, he is one of the world’s biggest dance DJs, but the collaborations he’s got goin’ on can’t be neglected either.

Friendly Fires ‘Kiss of Life’ Live (Video)

Friendly Fires stopped by MTV to pay Alexa Chung a visit and performed their newest single, “Kiss of Life.” While there is no release date set for their sophomore album, the band is still riding high on the success of their self-titled debut. This live performance amps up the three-piece ensemble with a trumpet, sax, and another guitar.

If you haven’t seen the video for the song, it features an entire African drumline and is a gorgeous array of colors and indie-pop. I’ve said this before, but Ed Macfarlane is a cyclone when he perfoms live; this is okay, but television doesn’t do justice to what I’ve seen them do in front of a sold-out crowd at Spaceland.
