Treasure Island Music Festival: Set Times Revealed (Empire of the Sun starts at 9:35pm)

This is an notice to all Northern California residents, Bay Area Residents, Southern California Residents, and/or anybody around the world coming to San Francisco for the wicked Treasure Island Music Festival on October the 15th and 16th. May I have your attention please? Ok, starting today, you should get your shovels, compasses bottles of rum, those old school Shutter Shades (I’m bringing it back), and a google spreadsheet ready because the Treasure Island Festival is next week. Let’s plan our day accordingly because I do not want to be stuck on the Bay Bridge while Warpaint is playing.

Here are the set times, plan ahead people!!

(oh, and don’t actually bring the shovels and bottles of rum….they probably won’t let you in)

Kanye, Arcade Fire, Steve Wonder :: 22 Bands We Loved At Austin City Limits

Austin, Texas survived her 10th year of the Austin City Limits festival. Thousands of Austinites and tourists flooded into Zilker Park last weekend for food, drink and, most of all, the sweet sound of music. C3 productions, the producers of this three-day event, thankfully worked out some of the kinks that plagued the festival in years past. In collaboration with Austin Parks and Recreation, C3 contributed to an irrigation system for Zilker, eliminating the “Dust Bowl” phenomenon two years ago. Adequate water filling stations, misters and an ingenious recycling system (fill a bag, get a free T-shirt) all contributed to pleasant and uplifting experience much needed by the folks in Central Texas recently ravaged by wildfires.

Deadmau5, Guetta, Tiesto To Headline Ultra Music Fest

Ultra Music Festival has announced the initial batch of performers for their annual dance music bachannal in Miami, including easily the three biggest names in dance music—Deadmau5, David Guetta, Tiësto—to headline the event’s first three-day party. Also on the bill are global dance faves The Chemical Brothers, Benny Benassi and Sander Kleinenberg (performing an unusual live set). Lollapalooza 2010 Day Two: OK maybe this is a rock festival after all

After the flashy beats and rhythm-focused first day of Lollapalooza, things returned to a form of sorts as the second day came into focus amid the continuing ideal weather. The crowds didn’t seem to be as thick as the mobs of sold out previous years, but that didn’t stop a steady stream of gate crashing attempts (with varying degrees of success) from those on the outside, and in truth the extra personal space may have been as much due to the expanded grounds, additional stages as it was to smaller numbers.

The added space turned six-lane Columbus Drive into a pedestrian walkway allowing a bottleneck free passage between stages, and the new layout gave every stage more room to let the sound breath and thus cut down on bleed. And of course the focus of the weekend was those sounds. For …
