Paul White – Rapping With Paul White (Review)

Paul White

Rapping With Paul White

Released by One-Handed Music

Part hip-hop, part electrofunk and part space-jazz, UK producer Paul White’s new record Rapping With Paul White, is a genre-bending mixture of geographically diverse sounds. Featuring Detroit’s heavy-hitter Guilty Simpson of Stones Throw and Random Axe fame on the single “Trust” as well as the Motor City rapper Danny Brown on “One of Life’s Pleasures”, Paul White cooks up some delectable selections for our audible consumption—from straightforward hip-hop bangers, to more methodical and introspective instrumental tracks. Dublab DJ Kutmah Held By INS

Well known Los Angeles DJ Justin “Kutmah” McNulty was taken into custody by INS last week and is reportedly being held inNew Mexico where he could eventually be deported. Kutmah is best known as a member of LA collective Dublab and is involved heavily in such high-profile far left hip-hop nights as Low End Theory, Firecracker and Sound Lessons. The UK-born Egyptian-Scottish McNulty moved with his family to the U.S. when he was 12. The family was denied green cards at several points during McNulty’s adolescence and he has allegedly been living as an undocumented immigrant for over a decade.

The website Free Kutmah was up almost instantly and the #FREEKOOTZ Twitter campaign is in full effect. Keep and I on both sites along with Dublab.com for more info as it comes along.

Dent May & Friends – Live inna dublab (MP3)

Dent May’s either going to end up being horrendously famous, toting a gold gilded ukulele around or just releasing another few discs and disappearing into the enormous mass of folks putting out music today.

That latter option seems less and less likely – in part because of the Sprout Session that May and company threw down a few months back at the dublab. Cop it and be surprised by how much emotion a man can spit out while playing a tiny, tiny instrument.

dublab Live Sessions (A Two Part Movement) (MP3)

The lovely music obsessed do-gooders at dublab want to give you a present for supporting them.

The lovely music obsessed do-gooders at dublab want to give you a present for supporting them. A decade’s a long time to do anything, but a decade of broadcasting intelligent, (sometimes) experimental music is kinda like working in dog years. So, really, they’re 70. And for any 70 year old to compile and upload all of this music is impressive.
