J-Boogie’s Dubtronic Science – Undercover (Review)

J-Boogie's Dubtronic Science

Undercover

Released by OM Records

My familiarity with J-Boogie comes from the various remix and edit work he has done in the past (including one he made for Vieux Farka Touré's "Fafa" from 2009) as well as his collaboration with fan favorites People Under the Stairs, Quantic and his Combo Barbaro, Bay Area compadres Zion I, Goapele and Raashan Ahmad spanning multiple projects, personal and by others. Simon Baker – Traces (Review)

Simon Baker

Traces

Released by 2020 Vision

Long-time influential player in the UK house and techno scene, Simon Baker, is releasing his highly anticipated debut album Traces on his home label of 2020 Vision. The internationally seasoned DJ shows all of his musical sides on his first long player. Album opener and single “No Pressure,” is a poppy gem that sounds like Tiga in a Berlin studio. It’s beautifully orchestrated with strings and soulful keys, and the looping vocals are from collaborator Debukas. It kind of sums up the roots of dance music; Disco, Electro ...
