Tricky SLAMS Massive Attack’s 3D and Domino Records

Tricky has always seemed like an artist whose bad side you don’t want to end up on. And he’s really cut loose in an interview with Exberliner magazine, in which he calls out Domino Records head Lawrence Bell and his former Massive Attack colleague 3D, whom Tricky calls “pretentious” and a “corny guy” who “always needs someone who’s a tall black guy.” OUCH! …MORE

DOWNLOAD Four Tet’s Remix of Hot Chip :: “Look At Where We Are” (MP3)

Hot Chip remixes are rarely as good as the originals, but we’ll give it to Four Tet serious props for turning the UK five-piece’s melancholy single, “Look At Where We Are,” into an epic extended workout. The first three minutes sound like “In The Air Tonight” re-imagined, before the kick drum comes in starts a tech-house groove that shifts shape freely for the remaining four minutes of sultry dance floor energy.

On their recent releases, the electro-pop put forth by Junior Boys was excellently refined and intimate in composition and production. Jeremy Greenspan’s lyrics certainly put his emotions out in the open, and he and bandmate Matthew Didemus constructed the songs that excelled in their polished restraint. Yet it came with a detached air, almost as if the honed electronic sounds and the spirit of the music were being presented from behind a screen. All the same basic elements—classic synth leads, intricately pulsing rhythms and pop vocal stylings—are back again ...

Junior Boys Announce Tour + New Single

Canadian synth-pop duo Junior Boys have announced their senior project, It’s All True, the band’s fourth album due June 14th. We got a first taste last month with the song “EP,” and are eagerly awaiting a second helping with the single “Bananna Ripple,” a nine-minute opus that comes with further extentions from The Fields. The 12-inch drops next week and is available for pre-order on Domino Mart. Junior Boys have also announced a nationwide tour. Check the full dates below. …MORE
