Phase 2 of Ultra Music Festival 2010 Announced (Video)

The anticipation is building and you heard it here, folks. Phase 2 of Ultra Music Festival 12 was just announced and it looks like the producers are pulling out all the stops to bring the absolute best of the best in electronic dance music. With the festival just over 40 days away, we can only imagine what surprises they have up their sleeves.

This year’s UMF represents one of the strongest and most diverse electronic line-ups ever assembled with the addition of collaborators Damian Marley & Nas, Faithless Sound System, Groove Armada Live, Will.I.Am and ummm..Little Boots. And that’s just the beginning.

Guillermo Scott Herren has a lock on the rolling beats and sinewy electronic grooves he’s perfected through a career that spans more albums and side projects than there are backpacks at one of his shows. He’s one of the best known names of the glitch-hop movement, which encompasses everyone from Ghostly International’s scratchy rootmaster, Dabrye, to Herren’s own Eastern Developments protege, Elliot Lipp. On January 20 Herren rolled into the Middle East downstairs under his most famous (and my personal favorite) moniker, Prefuse73.

Moulton Music Haiti Benefit Needs Your Help

Chris Lum of the famed Moulton Studios in San Francisco is doing his part to help out the Haitian Massive.  Anyone who has ever come close to Chris would know just how educated and passionate he is about topics like this.  At the end of the day he is the kind of person you want on your side in times like these.  Recently spotted over at Deep Link, Chris has put out a call for a help on a series of events to support the country of Haiti.  If you are a promoter, club owner or DJ then this message is for you, please check it out and show your support any way you can!

Rice and Peas is Tribeca’s Dancehall Spot

DJs Gravy, Max Glazer, Weed Cologne, Maya, Orijahnal Vibes, along with MC Micro Don and guest host Skerrit Bwoy (the face of Major Lazer), make Rice and Peas the hottest dancehall party in New York City. Rice and Peas’ monthly residency–the first Monday of every month–is at Sway in Tribeca. The core trio of the Rice and Peas collective–Gravy, Max and Micro–also hold down Q-Tip every Friday night, at Santos Party House. On Fridays,  the open party features Va$hti and Q-Tip the Abstract, who spins old school party jams upstairs on the main dance floor to keep it groovy and funky, while Gravy, Max and Micro are in the basement keeping the vibes nice and sweaty.
