Jimmy Edgar & Luke Vibert :: “Disco” (MP3)

Two generations of WARP Records producers—’90s veteran Luke Vibert and ’00s sensation Jimmy Edgar have collaborated on the new compilation, Universus Vol. II, coming out on Circutree Records. The tune, “Disco,” offers a sample-heavy twisting of ’80s boogie synths and squarewave bass that sound like they should be played on an interstellar party boat.

New Justice Song + Album Details (MP3)

A new song by some of our favorite frenchies got an airing this weekend in Los Angeles. Busy P dropped a new tune by Justice during his set at HARD Summer. Ed Banger Records also announced more details today about Justice’s second album, titled Audio, Video, Disco, which is due out October 25th. You can hear the nameless new tune, and try to match it with the album tracklist after the jump.

Theo Parrish’s Ugly Edits Coming To CD

Theo Parrish has become one of Detroit’s most desired exports the past few years, but back in 2002, he was just another hustling Detroit DJ trying to make waves in the shadow of the city’s rich techno history. That’s when he decided to release a series of highly limited, hand-labeled bootleg edit records of some of his favorite classic funk and disco tunes. The resulting series of releases, appropriately titled Ugly Edits, became highly desired rarities on the DJ and collector’s circuit. …MORE

DJ Harvey ‘Locussolus’ Interview

The word legend gets tossed around too easily in the world of dance music. But when it comes to DJ Harvey, the term fits. Starting his DJing career in the early late-80s by bringing the disco-tinged sound of NYC house (or “garage” if you prefer) to London clubs, most notably the massive Ministry of Sound, Harvey is a true innovator of the genre.

20 years later and he has found himself at the forefront of yet another disco revival movement, this time while based in Los Angeles, where his Sarcastic Disco parties have become the stuff of local lore. A true DJ’s DJ, Harvey returned to the studio this year to record the album, Locussolus, released under the same name. URB caught up with Harvey while on his first global DJ tour following a decade in visa purgatory. …MORE
