Aww, Diplo and Lunice remixed Deerhunter’s “Helicopter”. I would have thought it was impossible to make this song uplifting especially with lyrics such as “no one cares for me” and “I keep no company” but Diplo and Lunice managed to kinda do that by making the original sound more Owl City-esque. It’s a nice and easy beat for such a fragile and tender song. “Helicopter” is off of Deerhunter’s Halcyon Digest out now.
Deerhunter releases the video for their song “Helicopter” off of their upcoming album, Halcyon Digest coming out September 28. At first when I heard it I thought it was a sweet romantic song and I was like aww. I replayed it and figured out it wasn’t. In my head I was just imagining different lyrics because the song is so brazenly depressing, but in a good way. The video itself reminds me of that video in The Ring sans Samara avec all Bradford Cox.
For the double-disc edition of their new album Sisterworld (out March 9 on Mute), Liars called on a bunch of friends to “reinterpret” the tracks from the album. Friends like Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe, and Bradford Cox of Deerhunter/Atlas Sound. And Blonde Redhead frontwoman Kazu Makino, whose take on “Drip” you can hear right here, right now.
You can also stream Sisterworld in its entirety over at Liars’ MySpace.
Looks like Bradford Cox of Deerhunter is getting his wish fulfilled cause the band will be touring with Spoon over the next few months. Micachu and the Shapes and Strange Boys join in on the action for select dates. Remember, Spoon’s Transference comes out next week, but you can stream the whole thing at NPR now. Dates after the jump. …MORE
