UPDATE: Madonna Responds To Deadmau5 Criticism

UPDATE: Madonna has responded to Deadmau5’s criticism that the singer should not have promoted drug use at Ultra Music Festival by asking “Who here has seen Molly?” We don’t really buy it (the pop icon’s latest album is called MDNA) but here’s the exchange via Twitter:

“From one mouse to another. I don’t support drug use and I never have. I was referring to the song called ‘Have You Seen Molly’ written by my friend Cedric Gervais who I almost worked with on my last album.” Totally innocent. She probably had no idea what ‘molly’ meant. Deadmau5 replied: “Fair enough, I was just voicing my concerns as i usually do. +1 respect for clearing it up personally.” To which she answered: “Communication is always best. You should have called me first, we could have cleared it up ‘privately’ ;) See you on the road.” Deadmau5 squeaked back: “Sure. Regardless, just be a little more aware of what you *should* represent at EDM events, and I’ll watch my mouth.

She also included a classic photo wearing mouse ears. Pretty clever. PLUR y’all.

Foo Fighters & Deadmau5 at The Grammys

Last nights Grammy awards had plenty of predictability (Adele swept everything, tears for Whitney Houston) and a couple surprises (Skrillex nabbed best new artist, lots of women want to get beat by Chris Brown). And then there was the much anticipated collaboration with between The Foo Fighters and Deadmau5, who performed the remix of “Rope” which was nominated or Best Remix (Skrillex nabbed that too).

And while only the second half of the tune got the remix treatment (a whole 1:30 seconds), it certainly didn’t offend the sensibilities like some predicted. The producers were even smart enough to dress up some suits in the audience with Mau5heads, showing that they at least understand part of dance music’s current appeal—playing dress up.

Deadmau5 To Rock With Foo Fighters At The Grammys

David Guetta Also To Perform With Lil Wayne and Chris Brown

Dance music’s cognoscenti (ie—those who pay work in that neck of the music business) are stoked at the announcement that EDM will get it’s share of the spotlight at this year’s Grammy Awards. Nominee Deadmau5 will perform live with The Foo Fighters, while dance-pop crossover sensation David Guetta will raise his hands behind the decks along with Chris Brown and Lil Wayne.

This has already been a red-letter year for dance music makes and fans as far as the traditionally conservative Grammys are concerned. Dubstep sensation Skrillex leads the nominee pack with five to his name, including Best New Artists (the first EDM performer to be nominated.) Deadmau5, Guetta, Swedish House Mafia and Duck Sauce also racked up nods in 2012. But even though Dance Music has had its own categories since 2003, the award show has struggled to find a place onstage for performances by acts whose stage activity involves little more than pushing buttons. …MORE

Deadmau5 Covers Radiohead :: “Codex” (MP3)

Toronto-based electronic superstar Deadmau5 has taken a stab at covering Radiohead’s “Codex” off of last springs The King of Limbs album. The result is a far cry from Deadmau5’s usual stadium rave anthems, and might even recall his early, more thoughtful tunes, although he’s never done something this ambient. Radiomau5 or Deadhead. You decide.

Peaches Tells DJ Mag To “Eat A Dick”

Singer Outraged Over Lack Of Females On Top DJs List

More specifically, the Berlin-based electro-rocker says the magazine’s annual Top 100 DJs List can snack on some male genitals in response to the lack of female jocks who made the reader-voted list. How many ladies did make the cut? Zero.

Peaches posted on her Facebook, “DJ MAG! Your Top 100 DJ boy club list can eat a dick! Where the ladies at???” …MORE
