HEAR DOOM Collaborate With Jneiro Jarel

"Rhymin' Slang" featuring Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio.

Fans of masked rapper DOOM know the supervillian gets along surprisingly well with other rappers—Madlib (as Madvillian),  Dangermouse (as Dangerdoom),  Ghostface Killah (as DOOMStarks). But what to call this new partnership with Lex Records artist Jneiro Jarel? JJ DOOM of course.

Well, the new tune features TV on the Radio / Maximum Balloon man Dave Sitek on bass as well as production duties. And the result? Jane’s still isn’t the same without the Eric Avery’s insanely catch bass parts (who here didn’t learn the riff to “Mountain Song” when they were in High School), and Perry Farrell can’t hoot and hollar the way he used to. But Sitek does add some cool studio trickery, espeically in the intro, which kinda makes you imagine what could happen if Mad Professor got ahold of the master tapes from Ritual de lo Habitual. But it’s still fundamentally by the numbers alt-rock, which is to be expected I guess. …MORE

Dave Sitek Recording With Jane’s Addiction

File this under “did not see it coming.” Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio/Maximum Balloon) has joined the creative team working on Jane’s Addiction’s next album, due out this spring.
