It must be August, it must be hot, and it must be time once again to head to Chicago’s Grant Park to celebrate Lollapalooza, the annual Midwest superfestival that packs somewhere arounf 100,000 people into the expansive Chicago waterfront to hear some of the world’s biggest acts along with a great many up-and-comers.
This year, the Lollapalooza brand is celebrating 20 years since it first hit America as a roaming daylong event—with bands such as Nine Inch Nails (who played in daylight!), Ice-T’s metal project Body Count, Siouxsee and the Banshees and Janes Addiction introducing the American people to the alternative nation. A gathering of tribes not really seen since the heyday of the ’60s.

Last week, two Daft Punk tracks mysteriously popped up, allegedly leaked from the upcoming TRON Legacy soundtrack. The legitimacy of both songs, “The Crash” and “Fragile,” was denied by the Daft Punk camp, but not before “The Crash” even made it on to Kanye’s blog. That still leaves the question, who did make these tracks that fooled even Yeezy? The answer to at least one is Calamity Jane recording artist Pilotpriest.
Ok this is a bit self-indulgent, I admit, as it is my own song and video. However, I am really impressed with the final product and wanted to share it with you guys! Shot entirely in my hometown of Chicago in various locations, I wanted a fun storyline that poked a little fun at what people expect a dance video to be about.

Everyone who knows me knows I am the biggest Chicago advocate ever. I love my city, I’ll probably never live anywhere else. However, despite Chicago’s rich and illustrious relationship with electronic music, we’ve been subject to some pretty unfair legislation, including the much disputed “anti-rave” law of the 90s. A lot of us are now feeling backed into a corner all over again with our city council trying to pass a controversial promoter law.
