We might be nicely settled into 2012, but that doesn’t mean there’s not room for one more Best of 2011 list, especially when that list comes from DJ Premier. Of course, like all vinyl junkies, Preemo doesn’t actually stick to the assigned 25. How many of these Premier-approved records did you check last year?

Here is some brand new Common over a No I.D. beat from a new project called The Pursuit EP which came out of nowhere. It is rumored that the Cocaine 80s is a collective comprised of No I.D., Common, Steve Wyreman, Rob Kinelski, Kevin Randolph, James Fauntleroy, Makeba and “many more”. Over the past two decades, URB has worked with some pretty amazing photographers, many of whom have gone on to have their work celebrated on gallery walls and in the pages of some very nice photo books. Hip-hop lensman Mike Schreiber is the latest URB vet to get the coffee table treatment. His first book, True Hip-Hop comes out on October 26, featuring, “photos (some previously unpublished) that I’ve taken over the past 12 years, along with some personal stories and anecdotes.” …MORE
