Music is an auditory experience, but sometimes it takes a photo to truly capture a great show. That’s why URB trained our lens all over the country in 2011, capturing the artists and fans who make an event more than the sum of the music played. From Berlin to Bonnaroo, from ravers to Rock The Bells, here’s our hundred favorite photos that serve as a silent playlist capturing the past year.
22 year old, Seattle rapper, J. Pinder has accomplished an extraordinary amount for such a young artist. He has collaborated with the cream of Seattle hip hop (Jake One, Vitamin D, Kuddie Fresh) and has been praised by the likes of Okayplayer and URB.
“Go Far” is about moving into an unknown future with a solid and determined optimism. The track emphatically expresses the need for faith in one’s own ideas, abilities, and experiences.

Tomorrow he prepares for a grueling 8 shows in 7 day midwest tour and canned good food drive. A3C was a weekend filled with reunions, representing, and rapping. Crews rapping acts like Jon Connor with their “ya knooooow!” chants and acts like the LEP Bogus Boys from Chicago with their crazy showcase at Fadia Kader’s Perfect Attendance Stage.
If you weren’t there to rock the mic, you may have been in attendance just checking out some dope music. Moving through the crowd handling biz like SMKA or just chilling like Kyle Lucas of Vonnegutt. Artists flew from all over the country to make noise and shake hands. Shemspeed will be throwing one of the most exciting CMJ events of 2011! This event bridges and blends the worlds of electronic music, dancehall, and hip hop from artists around the globe. The line up includes a slew of world premieres, live performances by many diverse artists, and a front room with our favorite DJs!
