This weekend brings the iTunes exclusive debut of Justin Timberlake's new video for 3rd single, “What Goes Around,” starring Scarlett Johanssen and written by Nick Cassavetes. Oh yeah, and YouTube is going internuts over his live performance of “Dick in a Box” with Andy Samburg last night at Madison Square Garden. No good vid yet, but milliions of phone cameras for what its worth. Oh, one more thing: he hosts the Grammys Sunday night where he'll be performing and he's up for Album of the Year. Whew. Anything else? Oh, cover of Entertainment Weekly. And his album eclipsed–fuck it. Enough.
Virginia Beach homies (so can they be crunk?) the Clipse are taking it to the road for a huge US tour popping off in that wild-n-crazy college town, Cambridge, Mass. (Actually they are playing a handful of really cool, intimate venues like the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor, MI and Catalyst in Santa Cruz, CA). Read on for when they'll be rocking the party in your town…

This time it's a “loving critique” called HIP HOP: Beyond Beats and Rhymes, which premiered at Sundance this week and will be airing on PBS Feb 20 at 10PM. The high-minded film features interviews with Mos Def, Chuck D, Michael Eric Dyson, the Clipse, and countless others, and will discuss gender identification, homoeroticism (not “phobia”-we said “eroticism”) in hip-hop, and the impact of hip-hop on black violence, etc. Nothing we haven't heard bumbled through in a million poorly-organized forums and conventions, but this is PBS and if there's one thing they can do better than “furthering a liberal agenda,” it's presenting cultural fare in a thoughtful and touching environment. Also look here for details on a West Hollywood preview screening.
