We’re going on almost three years time since The Cool Kids graced the cover of URB magazine, and there’s still no proper full-length on the horizon. While this has to be some sort of frustrating record set by Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks, we can’t stay mad when they periodically drop a track like “Big Talk.” Three listens in and we still can’t figure out what the heck that buzzing sample is supposed to be. If “Big Talk” becomes a hit, will the ‘ketamine hornet’ sound become all the rage in hip-hop?
We’re still not clear on the whole fishing motif that The Cool Kids have been jocking for the past year, but 12 months after the Gone Fishing mixtape with Don Cannon, Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks are back with Tacklebox, presented by LA Leakers. The good news is, there’s no “Cannon-Cannon-Cannon” samples all over the place.The bad news, it’s been replaced by “The Los Angeles Leakers!” announcer voice.
