Nobody Famous Talks about New Record and A3C “Next Up!” workshop (Interview)


I got to see Reggie “Nobody Famous” Perry perform at USC’s fall-fest a couple weeks ago with J.Cole.  He had them college kids waving and bobbing to his own renditions of Kanye’s “Flashing Lights” to Outkast’s “ATLiens.“  Nobody Famous  recently answered acouple questions regarding the ATL music scene, his new workshop for aspiring hip hop artists, and his Project Generation D. More on this past URB intern after the jump!

Björk Releases “The Comet Song” to Raise Money for Pakistan

Björk released the video for her song “The Comet Song” through her website today; which is part of a Finnish Children’s film, Moomins and the Comet Chase. It looks like they used the same technology used in Davey and Goliath. The song itself is dark and haunting because it’s talking about the possible annihilation of the Moomin world. Oddly enough the song symbolizes the pain of the Pakistani people, which have been hit with devastatingly catastrophic floods.

The floods have caused upwards of 800,000 deaths, ruined crops, killed livestock and with such little aid being raised and provided to the country, they face water-borne diseases, starvation and limited amount of search and rescue.

Sales of this song go completely to Unicef Pakistan children’s charities and is one of the very few projects through the Arts that is helping out Pakistan during …

Fashawn Helps Haiti, Donates Clothes (Video)

I wanted to post this video because for all the celebrities and big-name artists we hear talking about helping Haiti or imploring us to make a donation, Fashawn leads by example. He seems genuinely motivated and compelled to help out; not so much driven by a desire for a certain image. If you have no idea who this newcomer rapper is, Shake at 2DopeBoyz put it simply: he released a phenomenal album in 2009 and here is he helping others. “Applaud this man.”

Gobble Gobble Give! (Video)

If you’re in L.A. – you might have heard of Gobble Gobble Give. It started with one person, Echo Park resident Barry Walker, who cooked and delivered Turkey Day meals to the homeless in his neighborhood… and now a group of friends in Echo Park have shown up to help cook and deliver meals for the past 10 years – the first year, 28 homeless were fed! The next year more showed up and over fifty meals went out. The following year, we reached the 100 mark and last year we were able to feed over 1,500 homeless in our neighborhood and leave them with t-shirts, beanies, shoes, sweaters, and tooth brush kits. Gobble Gobble Give is a community event and has become an incredible example of what a community can do to make change.
