Kid Sister – Kiss Kiss Kiss (Mixtape) (MP3)

We love it when artists go on the DL for a little while, then one day you wake up and they’ve dropped something hot in your lap like they were just waiting for the right moment while you were forgetting they exist. That exactly what 2007 URB cover starlet Melisa “Kid Sister” Young, just did with this new 13-song mixtape, Kiss Kiss Kiss, featuring guests Nina Sky and Gucci Mane, remixers Laidback Luke and Caspa, and DJ Nick Catchdubs. Guess she wasn’t hiding after all, she was in the lab assembling this mix that we hesitate to call a comeback—but it is nice to see her again.

BBU Lollapalooza Diary – Friday w/J.Cole, Caspa, B.o.B.

First day of Lollapalooza done and we must say it was intense. In normal BBU fashion, our show started at 12:30pm and we didn’t get out the door till 11:30, running hella late on that “Rapper Shit.” Hopped the train down and turned the train car into our own personal pre party—power to the working class. Around 12:10, we arrived at the Perry Stage. So we only got to over hear B.O.B. doing a MGMT cover, dope work sir! We hit the stage at 12:30 to a sea of kids ready to party. They had tons of energy and in our customary BBU fashion we took it one notch higher. Got off the stage hungry as hell, so we shot over to the Artists’ Lounge. While there we met up with the talented Nneka for a quick interview. Then we …

Caspa, Benga & Hudson Mohawke Live in NYC: Built By Mean Red (Review)

An unforgettable debut night of bass and brain-smashing.

“Built by Mean Red” is a phrase that’s been popping in New York City for quite some time now; from parties in backyards to raves in dim sum joints, the ladies of Mean Red Productions eloquently build up amazing events from the ground up, throwing small bouts of controlled chaos to outdoor eloquence with sangrias afloat. In other words, they’re all over the place and they’re dominating party regulars without them noticing. So, when the time came to announce their first ever Friday event in conjunction with Girls & Boys at Webster Hall, there was an uncertain feeling of who would show up and how many would come to revel in Webster Hall’s first-ever dubstep extravaganza, courtesy of Hudson Mohawke, (WARP/LuckyMe) Caspa, (Sub Soldiers/Dub Police) and Benga (Tempa). What happened in the end was one of the most exciting, chaotic …

Caspa – Everybody’s Talking, Nobody’s Listening (Review)

Caspa

Everybody's Talking, Nobody's Listening

Released by Fabric

The dubstep phenomenon has its upward peaks and downward dips; with so many sub-genres within a relatively young world of beats, it can be hard to figure out the good from the bad. Most of the dubstep faithful still have love for the older half-step rhythms of artists via 2003 Skream/Benga. The blow-up artists with this type of sound were Caspa and Rusko. Both got so huge that they produced a Fabric mix full of fantastic tracks from all over, taking their pick of the litter and making dubstep ...
