The winner for Lollapalooza’s annual remix competition, the Lolla Remix Throwdown, has been selected. After being chosen by the judges for their remix of Delta Spirit’s “California,” German duo Young Bloods battled it out for the crown last Saturday at the Live Finals event, held at Evil Olive in Chicago. With under a hundred fans on Facebook, this little known duo will now take the big stage this Friday at Chicago’s Lollapalooza.
With a week before the annual Sea No Evil charity event, SOL REPUBLIC has just released 10 pairs of limited-edition Tracks headphone collection by artists Gary Baseman and Hydro74. A personal fan of both artists for some time, these will be available for silent auction during the event this Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium with all three inter-changeable headband graphics. All proceeds go to benefit the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, the charity that puts on the yearly gala whose mission is to defend ocean wildlife and habitats worldwide needs you to help spread the message. Has-Lo continues to impress on the production end, able to turn around Oddisee’s produced original into something completely different, while Trek Life drops history and knowledge about Black migration patters to California and the Los Angeles area. Trek really shines on this track, displaying his affection towards California and the LA area, while doing the knowledge to offer listeners some insight on how it all started.
Those Chosen has been hard at work since the April 2010 release of5IVE. In light of ‘I Am Manute Bol’, a movement inspired by the late Manute Bol and set in place to revolutionize the idea of westcoast hip-hop, the Cali trio released their single, “Just When I Say” via iTunes earlier this year.
