STREAM Just Blaze Remix of Cajmere “Brighter Days” (MP3)

Chicago techno legend Green Velvet has been revisting his fuzzier alter-ego Cajmere lately, issuing a mammoth two disco compilation of hits and remixes titled, It’s Time, which featured a gang of remixes of proto-juke hit “Percolator” by Major Lazer, Claude Von Stroke, Riva Starr and Gant-Man. Now the textile-loving producer has handed over diva-house smash “Brighter Days” to ace hip-hop producer Just Blaze, who backs the soulful vocals by Dajae with a stomping tribal house tempo boom-clap, with more cymbal crashes than the “1812 Overture.” The single also comes with an electro-tinged “8 to 8 Dub Mix,” but check out Just Blaze’s ‘The reOPENed 3am’ mix right here.

URB Presents: Jackmaster – NUMBERS 2010 Exclusive Mix (MP3)

The mix we've been waiting ages for finally arrives, and doesn't disappoint.

This mix is one for the ages; provided by one of the head honchos of the Glaswegian imprint NUMBERS, Jackmaster has provided DJ sets that stretch time, space and continents simultaneously. Juggling between classic American cuts provided by Chicago and Detroit producers, as well as proper house, funky and bass tunes from the UK and rest of the world, Jackmaster doesn’t hesitate to cue up something that’s a favorite to some and obscure to others. As evident in his Sonar 2010 set, he pushes the envelope of “trendy” and doesn’t just play the newest and freshest dubs, it’s all about vibes. Whether it’s dropping classic Daft Punk, Aphex Twin or throwing down Chaka Khan, he’s fearless and a total maestro on the decks. After a few wishes upon a star, URB got theirs; an exclusive and obviously packed nearly two-hour mix from the man himself. Considering that we’ll be seeing him at UNSOUND 2010 in Krakow (back-to-back with Deadboy)  in the coming days, consider this a preview of what his set could be. This very well could be the mix of the year, blending classic, current and everything in between. Be sure to keep your ears peeled for forthcoming NUMBERS tunes in this mix from URB favourites Ill Blu and Mosca. Check the massive tracklist and download link  after the jump.

Music Video: Cajmere, “Percolator (Major Lazer’s Percumator RMX)” (Video)

If you grew up around Chicago everyone and your grandmother knew “Percolator” by Cajmere. I remember watching a bunch of girls grind up on 7th grade boys at cramped Jr High party while the room and the apartments next door blared with people shouting “it’s time for the percolator”. The song in my lifetime has been played in everything from baby showers, weddings, all my school dances, ringtones and this summer I heard it blanketing Union Park while Cajmere a.k.a Green Velvet performed at North Coast Music Festival. While it might be unknown to all these people how big this song is globally, it makes me feel good that these same people who grew up on dancing to “Percolator” are tipping their hats to a childhood club hit and reintroducing it into to all the new crowds. Who knows what 7th grade house party …

Green Velvet Exclusive Mix (Podcast)

Green Velvet

URB.com Exclusive Mix

For nearly two decade, Curtis Jones has been one of dance music’s most commanding and intriguing personas. First as Cajmere and then Green Velvet, the Chicago jock has produced cross genre hits from 1992’s smash “The Percolator” to 2007’s hipster anthem “Shake & Pop.” Most recently, Jones released “Everybody Wants” with Kid Sister, just one of the new generation of artist who owe much of their sound to Jones original jackin’ style. But Green Velvet is still the king o the dance floor as this exclusive one-hour mix for URB proves.
