Epitaph has issued a making the video clip for Sage Francis' new Buck 65 penned single, “Got Up This Morning.” The video features the pair, along with guests Slug and Brother Ali, doing their best Dogs Playing Poker routine. This means that if a bomb had goen off on set, the entire indie hip-hop community would cease to exist. Fortunately, this did not happen.
Murs and Slug released their second Felt album Felt 2: A Tribute to Lisa Bonet about 18 months back. On Monday, just 587 days after it was first released as a single, the video for “Early Mornin' Tony.” will be airing on MTVU. This is the first video from the disc.
Not quite sure what took so long, but a post on the duo's MySpace blog says the video features Slug, Murs, Ant and still shots from the Jim Mahfood drawn comic that came with the album. The video will be up on the official Rhymesayers YouTube page on Tuesday.
There's a pretty great dissertation on Brother Ali's new album The Undisputed Truth from embattled blogger and occassional URB-contributer Tom Breihan. Breihan has been the primary Internuts target for any cracka ass cracka deciding to write about hip-hop, but putting all those race-based issues aside, the Status Ain't Hoodster writes some pretty great prose, and has a few moments of hilarity.
Brother Ali's record is also pretty great—and while it's not the magnum opus that Shadows on the Sun was—it obviously deserves your attention when Rhymesayers releases it this spring. You can read more about Brother Ali in this month's issue of URB.
