Electro Wars Premiers In LA Tonight

No, it’s not a film about Afrika Babaataa challenging Steve Aoki to a cage match over rights to the genre name—but this film by new director Stephen Vazquez captures the blog-house era of the mid-to-late-’00s by interviewing just about every DJ you’ve cared about during that time—A-Trak, Steve Aoki, Crookers, Dave-1, Spank Rock, Ninja Sonik, Moby, Justice, Armand Van Helden, DJ Premier, DJ Qbert, N.A.S.A, Boys Noize.

Chilly Gonzales “I Am Europe” w/Tiga & Boys Noize (Video)

What do the creme de la creme of European techno do when they want a break from beats and bass? Digital Boy + Shark Give Listeners The Spirit Of ’91 (MP3)

Hands up, heads up and big-ups to the hardcore massive.

Italian duo Digital Boy + Shark debut a massive mix of time-warping proportions. This “Spirit of ’91″ mix (originally from the fantastic blog Discobelle) is definitely something that teeters between dope and are-you-kidding-me?! Tunes that are bass-driven, loud and pulse-pounding are meshed with some of the most fantastic early ’90s rave riffs ever. Anyone who has avoided hearing the sounds early ‘ardcore, wise-up. This mix could possibly be your chance to get a free lesson in what you’re missing. This mix is definitely a “ready-to-rave” sort of thing. If you’re not going to go crazy, you’re doing everything wrong. Also make sure to peep their soon-to-be-released remix of Congorock’s “Babylon” in the mix. Tracklist and D/L link after the jump.

Kelis

Flesh Tone

Released by will.i.am music

After a four-year hiatus, which saw her get more press for both divorcing Nas and giving birth to his child, Kelis is back with fifth studio album Flesh Tone. Long-time Kelis fans might be initially surprised at the sonic switch-up—it’s more dance than quirky R&B—but there’s something totally right about the way Kelis tackles electronic music. Maybe it’s the production: an array of very known, almost rote, euro-dance beatsmiths (from David Guetta to Boys Noize to Benny Benassi) pave the album with synths. But it’s probably all Kelis: her trademarked ...
