HEAR Two Tracks Of J Dilla’s Rebirth of Detroit (Video & MP3)

Last year, we showed you some studio footage of Cool Kids Chuck Inglish in the studio with Ma dukes as part of the Rebirth of Detroit project, which put Motown’s best MCs on pothumous beats by the beloved J Dilla. The album hit stores yesterday, and we have two tracks to share, including “Detroit Game,” which features Inglish and Boldy James on top of an amazing Dilla beat the samples David Essex’s classic “Rock On” (we’re guessing the Betty Moon cover).

21 SXSW bands x 11 SXSW Superlatives; Really cool then, and still is… two weeks later (MP3)

So as the business card pile collects dust and we all wonder where we were while ASAP Rocky got put in a “Vice Grip” and your car got towed in the $7 dollar public lot after 3 am, lets give you the last of the last SXSW articles. Maybe you went to the Fader Fort and hung out with the Bawss Rick Ross or kicked it with Nardwuar , saw Murs on the street, met Trash Talk, or wondered how the fuck anyone ever made it to Beauty Ballroom which was in the middle of nowhere Austin.
(why would you throw shows so far away?) Did you hit Pitchfork parties to see STRFKR ? Did you catch a dusty band playing for 20 people that was the next best thing?

Sometimes little things are all that’s needed to make people tune in. Chuck had some choice words for the kids out there before they started recording in this flick. I can’t say I disagree with him as I can’t relate to most songs played on mainstream radio even though they’re meant to hit my demo.

Anyway it’s good to see that they don’t sit there and complain about the current situation. Instead they keep fighting the good fight and bang out to their trademark bass heavy sound with some help from Boldy James. Feel free to …
