The last time Asher Roth dropped a mixtape, he was a little known MC with a bit of an Eminem inflection that got everyone in the URB offices asking “who is this?” as we played the joint over and over. Now Mr. Roth is a white-rapping, terrorist thwarting superhero who has evidently developed a taste for the finer culinary treats. Seared Foie Gras With Quince & Cranberry features drops from Talib Kweli, Pac Div, Blu and Truck North, and beats from all the top chefs—Pharrell, Dilla, Kanye, 9th Wonder…
The “next school” is quickly becoming the “now school.” Artists such as L.A.’s Blu & Exile and fellow SoCal artist Fashawn have all made noise in the past few years. Toss in Diamond District out of D.C. and that’s the makings of a rather dope show. That’s exactly what went down earlier this month. This excellent video from the Mass Corporation blog was shot by Mr. Mass himself. Blu and Fashawn are featured prominently through out the video, but the real treat comes at about the five minute mark. It features Exile, the dope producer, “play” the MPC live and in living color. If you haven’t seen Exile on the MPC, then this video is well worth watching. The video itself is a very professional looking and creative look at the show.
In support of Blu, Exile and Fashawn’s Europe tour, the Superblenders put together this mix of their material to promote a show in Rotterdam this Sunday. Track list and download available.
