Hot on the (boot) heels of Motorway, the first single off Little Boots’ forthcoming LP, Nocturnes, comes Broken Record.  The latest effort launched to give listeners a taste of her next album, Broken Record is a resounding nod to the disco flavorings of Blondie while still retaining her signature electro-goth-pop vibe.

Broken Record is the flip side of coin with respect to Motorway.  Where Motorway was an aural dalliance between Boots’ electro trappings and a lush, vampy vocal arrangement, Broken Record finds the listener engaging with a more driven vocal line on top of a decidedly disco-goth score.  To say that the track itself is …

The Hundred in the Hands – The Hundred in the Hands (Review)

The Hundred in the Hands

The Hundred in the Hands

Released by Warp

Eleanore Everdell and Jason Friedman are a new-wave duo from Brooklyn (where else?). They’ve been riding on some buzz and a couple of great EP’s, and their self-titled girl/boy synth-pop album is released by Warp Records. Kasper Bjørke

Standing on top of Utopia

Released by hfn

Kasper Bjørke has had a lengthy career, and here’s his second full-length album. He comes from the heart of the thriving Copenhagen electronic scene along with Trentemøller. After more than a decade as a busy producer and DJ, Kasper has released his work on labels like Plant Music, Fine, Thugfucker and V2 Records and received a Danish Music Award as Best Producer for the well-known project Filur. FM Belfast – How To Make Friends (Review)

FM Belfast

How To Make Friends

Released by World Champion Records

FM Belfast is an Icelandic electro-pop group that was founded in 2005. How to Make Friends is their debut album, originally released in 2008. After being one of the most talked-about bands all over Europe, due in no small part to their energetic and engaging live show, Reykjavik's FM Belfast are set to release their debut album in the US. They became a must-see band at SXSW '09. The size of the group varies from performance to performance, with anywhere from three to eight members comprising FM Belfast at any given time, and includes Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason of the experimental electronic group múm. They play non conventional electro-indie-pop, and you can hear shadows of LCD Soundsystem, Munk and Scissor Sisters, but there aren’t too many dance floor tracks.
