You know I can not stand holiday music — it always sounds like someone is cutting my ears apart with overly sweet, almost artificial good time feelings. Maybe for someone as dark and cynical as me, that music just doesn’t fly. Well it seems like Bird Peterson challenged all of us and made this extraordinary holiday mixtape which is so friggin’ fresh, I think I might play it in July. I’ve been listening to a lot of foreign dance radio lately because my friend Mariam-who’s from Egypt-is coming home soon and we always talk about music we like and I needed to catch up on my foreign dance music. Did you know Donna Summer has this really great song out over there? So when Washington DC’s Will Eastman sent me his Dmerit remixes I felt like I was listening to Ibiza morning radio all over again! So I think I finally have something to contribute to her snobbish dance music taste. You can catch the Dmerit Remixes on Output Noise Records out Feb. 8, 2011. Will is also releasing his highly anticipated, “No Sleep” on February 8th (Plant Music) with remixes by Treasure Fingers, Bird Peterson and Lazaro Casanova.
