Mr. Bartz was formally trained at Julliard; however, it’s the time alongside jazz greats like Miles Davis, Charles Mingus and McCoy Tyner that has placed him as a legend in the game. R&B icon, Bilal, serves as featured vocalist for the Gary Bartz Project, and for this special night only, soul sensation and 2006 RBMA Participant, Aloe Blacc, will join them on stage.

Rel & JBillion – Once In A Lifetime feat. 1 O.A.K. (Video & MP3)

Rel & JBillion are preparing their release, MVMNT as a free album download on May 17th, 2011.

The SF representatives present the first official music video from the album for the song Once In A Lifetime featuring 1 O.A.K. Producer Rel, also takes forth directorial duties for the music video and was filmed at San Francisco’s beloved Mexican grill, “Papalote,” opened in 1999 by DJ Mr. E and brother Victor Escobedo. Papalote garnered much attention after winning a culinary battle against the Food network’s Bobby Flay for their “Triple Threat Burrito.”

***Side note. Papalote’s salsa is world famous. Ask Pete Rock, House Shoes or J.Rocc, Babu, and the rest of the Beat Junkies haha***

Crown Royale (Buff1 x DJ Rhettmatic) – Crown Jewels: A(2)Dope EP (MP3)

The folks at 2dopeboyz just released this free download for Crown Royale, the group consisting of Beat Junkie representative, DJ Rhettmatic, and Michigan’s own Buff1.  The EP is in support of their upcoming self-titled album, dropping December 7th via A-Side Worldwide.

The EP features exclusive music from Crown Royale, with guest features from El Da Sensei and Kam Moye, and production by DJ Rhettmatic and recent Red Bull Big Tune National winner, 14KT.

This is a family affair so I hope you enjoy this.  You have the option to download the project or stream the full album via NPR.
