James Blake :: “Not Long Now” (MP3)

Gilles Peterson had the privledge last night of debuting the first tune off of James Blake’s latest EP, Enough Thunder, on his BBC radio show . The tune neatly sums up Blake’s catalog to date, starting with several minutes stark vocals with enough space between the lines to drive a oil tanker through, followed by a twittering beat that eventually grows into a precision-guided dubstep drop that’s a million miles away from Skrillex.

Jamie XX “Far Nearer” Extended Version + DJ Mix (MP3)

It’s only February, but it’s pretty obvious that Jamie XX is going to be a top trending name in the meta-blog meme of our minds this year. How many acts can release their first single back in Sept, then issue a longer version to equal excitement five months later. Probably the same guy who can remix and entire Gil Scott-Heron album, We’re New Here, while also issuing scores of DJ mixes, including this recent two hour epic session for BBC’s consistantly awesome 6Mix.You can stream that for a few more days, here.

New Flying Lotus Track For BBC (MP3)

No one will argue that 2010 was the year of Flying Lotus, with his May album release, Cosmogramma, at or near the top of every year-end chart you’re likely to stumble upon. He followed that up in September with the Pattern+Grib World EP that tacked an extra 19 minutes onto his discography. But rather than relax for the final stretch of the year, FlyLo decided to issue one more of his increasingly artistic statements. Appearing on Gilles Peterson’s BBC Radio Sessions, the producer-bandleader offered up three studio tracks, including jazzy live renditions of Cosmogramma’s “MmmHmm” and 2007’s “Tea Leaf Dancer” with vocalist Andreya Triana. But the real score is the new song, “Golden Axe.”

Check out all three, plus the interview between FLyLo and Gilles Peterson after the jump. …MORE

Daft Punk – “TRON Legacy (End Titles)”

Now we’re getting into the good stuff. Last night on BBC Radio 1, Annie Mac premiered the music from end titles of TRON Legacy, which, if you haven’t heard, was recorded by Daft Punk. At almost 3 1/2 minutes, it’s the most music we’ve heard so far from the upcoming soundtrack. Imagine “Rollin’ and Scratchin,’” the eight minute acid burner from the duo’s first album, Homework, turned into the closeing credits to a major motion picture.

New M.I.A. – “Steppin’ Up” and “XXXO” (Jay-Z Remix) (MP3)

We’ve gotten used to daily M.I.A. news as the release of her new album approaches, but here’s a two-fer. First is the remix of “XXXO,” Maya’s poppiest selection yet, and nothing makes a hit like Jay-Z on the verse who rhymes “XXXO” with “metro-sexual,” reminding us that he really is the GOAT.
