Portishead interview (vid), TV concert announced

Current TV has a great little conversation with Geoff Barrows and Adrian Uttley of Portishead. The notoriously press shy Beth Gibbons is of course no where to be found.

The trio are scheduled to perform a broadcast concert ala Radiohead on Apr 11 in preparation for their new album, Third, to be released on 4/28.

Heat @ UC Riverside

Saturday night kinda reminded myself why I’m not a big fan of festivals. The parking, the traffic after the event, the douche baggery they call security, and the plethora of folks that tend to smudge my kicks. It didn’t help that it just so happened to rain. But, all of that is the price you have to pay if you want to catch a favorite artist. Rain or shine, the slight drizzle couldn’t douse the so-called flames that was the second annual Heat Festival at UC Riverside, which was headlined by Mos Def, Clipse, post hardcore band Circa Survive and URB multiple coverboy Moby.

Full disclosure: I had a DJ residency in Los Angeles with Steve for six months 2005. And full, full disclosure—we didn’t really get along very well. No hating, we just didn’t bro down. It was an interesting time for Steve, as he was right at …

Ignorance of the law is not a defense in the UAE.

Back in Nov four years in prison.

Grooverider’s not the first foreigner to face such a conviction, and the four year term’s been handed down for possessing as little as 0.002 grams. That basically amounts to a crumb of the herb and in Dubai they can pretty much search the bags of anyone passing through. Grooverider claimed he’d forgotten about his tiny stash in a pair of pants he’d packed for the trip.

His employers at BBC Radio 1 had this to say …

Portishead new album: ‘Wish we had more time,’

The UK Guardian has an exclusive interview with Geoff Barrow and ADrian Uttley about the new Portishead album. In it the writer proclaims:

“It features a run of five or six songs which are not just worthy of the records this band were making 10 or even 14 years ago, but feel like the sonic destination which they were always meant to arrive at.”
