The winner for Lollapalooza’s annual remix competition, the Lolla Remix Throwdown, has been selected. After being chosen by the judges for their remix of Delta Spirit’s “California,” German duo Young Bloods battled it out for the crown last Saturday at the Live Finals event, held at Evil Olive in Chicago. With under a hundred fans on Facebook, this little known duo will now take the big stage this Friday at Chicago’s Lollapalooza.

UPDATE: Madonna Responds To Deadmau5 Criticism

UPDATE: Madonna has responded to Deadmau5′s criticism that the singer should not have promoted drug use at Ultra Music Festival by asking “Who here has seen Molly?” We don’t really buy it (the pop icon’s latest album is called MDNA) but here’s the exchange via Twitter:

“From one mouse to another. I don’t support drug use and I never have. I was referring to the song called ‘Have You Seen Molly’ written by my friend Cedric Gervais who I almost worked with on my last album.” Totally innocent. She probably had no idea what ‘molly’ meant. Deadmau5 replied: “Fair enough, I was just voicing my concerns as i usually do. +1 respect for clearing it up personally.” To which she answered: “Communication is always best. You should have called me first, we could have cleared it up ‘privately’ See you on the road.” Deadmau5 squeaked back: “Sure. Regardless, just be a little more aware of what you *should* represent at EDM events, and I’ll watch my mouth.

She also included a classic photo wearing mouse ears. Pretty clever. PLUR y’all.

Five Reasons Tomorrowland Trumps EDC

Early Monday morning, Belgium’s Tomorrowland Festival drew to a dream-like close after attracting record crowds (the final numbers showed nearly 200,000 attended over three days this year). Sporadic rain could not and did not deter Dutch, French and Belgian fans of electronic music who flocked en masse to the event, which is quickly emerging as Europe’s answer to the Electric Daisy Carnival and now firmly established as a global DJ circuit “must” for fans and industry alike.

But the truth is Tomorrowland is in many ways better than EDC.  Here are just five reasons to hit this sensorial experiential extravaganza next year (start saving up now, tickets sold out early this year and will again in 2012). …MORE
