It’s hard to even imagine what sort of brainstorming session with director Keith Schofield lead to the concept for the video for “Big Bad Wolf,” the latest from A-Trak and Armand Van Helden’s Duck Sauce project. One thing for certain is that it’s going to be difficult to look either DJ-producer in the face ever again.
So pretty much this is the party to be at on March 26, 2011. Set in an exclusive mythical location, Swedish House Mafia are presenting an all-star lineup of people including: A-Trak, AN21, Armand van Helden, Calvin Harris, Dirty South, Kim Fai, Max Vangeli, Pete Tong and many more to be announced. The pre-sale sold out in 22 minutes and now you have the lucky chance of winning a pair of tickets! The only catch is that you have to be 21+ and that you wear a mask to the party (I suggest an African tribal mask) and that you send your name, e-mail and phone number to tonamiepr [AT] gmail [DoT] com. If you have ever hit a club in NYC chances is are Rob Fernandez helped make that memorable night happen in some capacity. URB recently sat down with Rob on the heals of Pacha’s 5th birthday and his impending birthday bash to discuss all things celebratory in and about the New York nightlife. If you are unfamiliar with who Rob is we won’t hold that against you… even though he has taken home multiple Dancestar & Club World Awards for his events in the last three years not to mention the last two decades. He’s not one to bask, too much, in the spotlight. If that weren’t enough he also has a few other accolades under his belt, most notably “New Yorker of the Year”, not an easy feat in Gotham City. So a big thanks to the man for giving us his time to take a hilarious look back as well as a a positive glance at the future for electronic music in the US. Make the jump after the interview for a little present and info from Rob should you be headed or in the NYC area.

This mix is one for the ages; provided by one of the head honchos of the Glaswegian imprint NUMBERS, Jackmaster has provided DJ sets that stretch time, space and continents simultaneously. Juggling between classic American cuts provided by Chicago and Detroit producers, as well as proper house, funky and bass tunes from the UK and rest of the world, Jackmaster doesn’t hesitate to cue up something that’s a favorite to some and obscure to others. As evident in his Sonar 2010 set, he pushes the envelope of “trendy” and doesn’t just play the newest and freshest dubs, it’s all about vibes. Whether it’s dropping classic Daft Punk, Aphex Twin or throwing down Chaka Khan, he’s fearless and a total maestro on the decks. After a few wishes upon a star, URB got theirs; an exclusive and obviously packed nearly two-hour mix from the man himself. Considering that we’ll be seeing him at UNSOUND 2010 in Krakow (back-to-back with Deadboy) in the coming days, consider this a preview of what his set could be. This very well could be the mix of the year, blending classic, current and everything in between. Be sure to keep your ears peeled for forthcoming NUMBERS tunes in this mix from URB favourites Ill Blu and Mosca. Check the massive tracklist and download link after the jump.
