iPad: A Mild Mannered Device or God Save The Media?

Typical of introductions to Apple’s new products, reaction to the unveiling of the iPad has been swift and polarized. The last few months have brought countless news stories, blog posts and general punditry, and when combined with Apple’s penchant for extreme secrecy, the wide and complicated range of emotions was almost inevitable. Apple is both extremely innovative and very cautious with its product launches. iPad Unveiled, But Can You DJ With It?

Update: Having spoken to reps at Ableton, it’s clear the iPad, which uses the same OS as the iPhone, will not run their software. It is unlikely that other music programs would run for the same reason. So, who is going to build the first high-functioning music software for the iPad?

Get Physical :: Mixing App for iPhone (Video)

iPhone apps are set to minaturize the whole world if you asked me but when it comes to music I will happily take anything I can get my hands on.  Get Physical is set to help you turn your phone into a set of turntables at the slide of a finger.  XLR8R had this to say about it.

“Berlin purveyors of all dance-friendly music, Get Physical, move further into the future with the release of their own iPhone Touch Mix. Featuring 18 club-ready tunes from Booka Shade, DJ T, and Patrice Baumel, to name a select few, the application allows you to crossfade tracks, apply a variety of effects, and use the touch screen to “scratch” at will. Now all would-be DJs can hone their skills on the go!”
