Annie – Don’t Stop (Review)

Don't Stop

The follow-up to Annie's 2005 debut Anniemal has been a long time coming. In the last four years Don't Stop has changed labels, been delayed, leaked, and now, at last, will be formally re-released in Nov with new tracks and an 80's-glam neon-streaked cover that's had the internet abuzz all summer.

Esoteric Swedish electronic label Smalltown Supersound, with its free-form style, May seem an unlikely home for Annie's highbrow bubblegum, but they allowed Annie full control. The neo-Italo makeover of Stacy Q's "Two of Hearts" and the ...

J*Davey @ Pineal Portraits Gallery Opening

Friday night URB.COM attended the opening of Pineal Portraits: The Reality of Dreams at the Pineal Gallery, 6130 Wilshire Blvd. at Fairfax in West Hollywood for the exhibit’s five-week stint in Los Angeles.

The exhibit features a trinity of skillful, emerging artists in the world, James Whitley, Dawn Okoro, Ria Ray, and Simone Bingemer. Coupled with their works is an exhibit tour that visits three fascinating, world-class cities: Los Angeles, Chicago, and London.

The Los Angeles opening featured an exclusive Jam Session with URB.COM favorites and new Warner Bros. recording artists, J*Davey. The small venue allowed for a uniquely intimate show, as attendees were treated to J*Davey in their purest form.

And we just wanted to send out a special thanks to Annie M. Burks and Electric Sensory Productions for being a …

Jay-Z Rips It At Glastonbury

It’s clear that Noel Gallagher’s criticisms were lingering somewhere in the back of Shawn Carter’s mind as he first emerged from the backstage shadows. Entering to the immediately familiar Oasis anthem “Wonderwall,” Jay led the crowd, approximately 180,000 strong, in a wry sing-along. With a smirk creeping over his face, a guitar-wielding Master of Ceremonies looked slightly more validated as fans embraced his playful reinterpretation.

“I just got one thing to say,” came Jiggaman’s roar, before bounding towards his “99 Problems.” Clad in a black hoodie, complimenting scarf and thick-rimmed sunglasses, there was no questioning Jay’s comfort as the track’s distinctive guitar growls raised the energy of both Hova and every ticket holder. “I’m like ‘fuck critics,’ you can kiss my whole asshole,” Jay snarled, bobbing and weaving around the stage as Memphis Bleek played …
