Blu & Exile – The Great Escape feat. Homeboy Sandman and ADAD (MP3)

Blu & Exile’s official follow up to their critically acclaimed 2007 album “Below the Heavens” is out now. “Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them” was officially released yesterday, September 4th, via Fat Beats / Dirty Science. The album is fully mixed and mastered and features exclusive tracks not on the previous leak, alongside some additional musicians and guest features.

In celebration for their new album release, enjoy the free download to the song “The Great Escape” featuring Homeboy Sandman and ADAD. Chicago’s ADAD is part of Exile’s Dirty Science collective and Homeboy Sandman is preparing for his own album release, “First of a Living Breed” which will be released September 18th via Stones Throw.

Tensei – One EP (MP3)

The Chicago based production crew, Tensei, is comprised of Simple X and Midas Wells. The two met in college at Southern Illinois University with a shared love for hip hop and together formed the group Tensei, meaning ‘heaven star’ in Japanese.

In preparation for their upcoming full length album via Plug Research later this year, today enjoy a free EP download entitled “One.” This EP brilliantly showcases Tensei’s production style, forfeiting traditional use of samples and instead, using live musicians to create and produce their tracks. They often sample themselves and other musicians they are working with so that they can continue the tradition of sampling within hip hop production, while dodging common struggles of sampling material that is not properly cleared with rights-holders. Bilal – Robots (Tensei Remix) feat. ADaD (MP3)

LA Times premiered the Tensei Remix for Bilal’s “Robots” which now features Chicago MC, ADAD. The premier was in support for Bilal’s show on Friday at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, as part of Bilal’s “Little One” Summer Tour taking Bilal all over the United States over a period of 2+ months.
