Touring season has begun and Aceyalone, Pat Maine, JNatural and DJ Tram Life are just over a week into their Aces High Tour, where they’ll be promoting all their releases via microphone slaying and cheap motel stayings from Salt Lake City to Seattle (and just about everywhere in between). The crew has partnered with Halseyan Clothing, who are also presenting JNatural’s mixtape, Bad Woman Rising. I’m sure her presence will be very accommodating throughout the tour, especially for the ladies who get dragged to rap shows by their die hard Aceyalone boy friends (keep your eyes peeled for that Leanin’ on Slick). Pat Maine is also doin’ big thing as his album Doomsday Charades currently holds the #5 album slot on CMJ’s Hip-Hop charts, and is a solid opener to boot. I’ve had the opportunity to see him perform at SXSW over the past couple years and he always brings his A Game. He’s also been known to drive all over the states for gigs, which I can respect. So without further adieu, hit the jump for the tour dates and run and tell a friend..
I have been searching for some dope videos that have nothing to do with each other, and I seem to find 2 great ones.
One features Kyle Rapps w/ Talib kweli in a awesome audition that features NYC acts like Diwon and Y Love and Jah C tryin out for the part of…well. something famous?
Universe Traveler plays over the beat of French Duo “Air” and has Talib doing what he does best…talking about travelling the world!
Our other video features Sirah, an LA songstress that mixes some indie pop over some feel good LA picnic steez. Double Yellow Lines is much different than Kyle Rapps’ video. Kissing little dogs and picnic baskets and partly shaven heads, might not be your thing. I am def into picnic baskets on bikes though. Good move Sirah….
LA’s hottest upcoming female MC JNatural pairs up with two of the city’s underground hip-hop godfathers, Abstract Rude and Aceyalone, on this latest track from the LP Love Is On Hiatus.
JNatural :: “Keys to the City” ft. Abstract Rude and Aceyalone [audio:http://www.urb.com/files/2011/05/06-KEYS-TO-THE-CITY.mp3|titles=06 KEYS TO THE CITY] [download]
Petite, sexy, and Filipina, JNatural is hardly your typical hip-hop emcee. Her debut, Love is On Hiatus, executive produced by southland legend Aceyalone, is a rousing, jazzed inflected homage to finding love. And with guests like Acey and Abstract Rude, and production by Jeff Wonder and LD (Dilated Peoples, GZA, LMNO), this June release is sure to put her on the hip-hop map. Below Acey chops it up with his protege especially for URB readers. Find out how they met, JNat’s favorite Freestyle Fellowship song, and how she plans world domination: …MORE
So here’s a question—is it harder or easier to rhyme is a made up language. Plenty of haters have given Dr. Seuss tons of shit over the years for all of his imaginary nouns, but heads know the Dr. was dope. Same verdict then for this new cut by Aceyalone and RJD2, who re-join forces for the first time since 2006′s surprise collaboration album, Magnificent City.
“Ever Seen This” appears on the Sim City 3: Stereo Jams soundtrack, and features Aceyalone rapping in Simglish (you know that’s the language from the game you computer geeks).
