The Playlist reports that the search for Big Poppa is over. Mr. Jamal Woolard AKA Brooklyn rapper, Gravy, shall play Biggie Smalls in the biographical film to be released by Fox Searchlight. The flick shall also feature Derek Luke as Puffy (he was indeed called Puffy back then), Anthony Mackie shall play 2Pac and Angela Bassett shall play the lovely Voletta Wallace, Biggie’s momma.
Like Ras Kass says, “You know dead rappers get better promotion/You'll prolly go diamond when I throw your ass in the ocean.” Well, at this point hip-hop's most acclaimed martyr doesn't even need promotion to do numbers, the name sells itself—2Pac. Yesterday, the NY Post reported that Afeni Shakur cashed in on her son's credible catolog. Tossing caution (and her son's legacy) into the wind, she sold all rights of the writer's share of the rap icon to EverGreen Copyrights, an indpenedent music publisher.

ATLANTA, GA – Apr 04, 2007 — The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation (TASF) is asking innovative filmmakers from around the world to submit their work for inclusion in the Tupac Amaru Shakur Film Festival. This year’s festival is scheduled to take place on Nov 10, 2007 at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Atlanta, Georgia. The event will start at 2:00PM
The inaugural event garnered global interest culminating with a rapturous crowd viewing the documentary “The Hip Hop Project.” Actor Bruce Willis and actress/rapper Queen Latifah joined forces to bring this film to the big screen.
“We are looking to grow this annual event and create a forum for filmmakers of all ages to showcase their work,” says Afeni Shakur, President and Founder of the TASF.
