Dark Disco In Brooklyn with Mary Anne Hobbs, Nosaj Thing + More

MeanRed is back with another devious dose of their darkside endeavor, Dark Disco. This time, it’s housed in the venue of Brooklyn’s own Music Hall of Williamsburg, with a lineup that’s undoubtedly impressive and immersive. The night will feature DJ sets from (now) post-chillwave act Toro y Moi, “lovestep” extraordinaire Dirty South Joe, and URB favourite Mary Anne Hobbs. What’s most intriguing is that L.A.’s abstract beatmaking sensation, Nosaj Thing, will be performing live a bit differently. Nosaj will be doing an impressive (and rarely done) full A/V set, with a focus on magnifying the live experience of Nosaj Thing (which is already fantastic). Details on where to get tickets and the flyer with info on tonight’s festivities after the jump.

Sepalcure Live On Percussion Lab Radio (Exclusive Set) + EU Tour Dates (MP3)

Call it a really amazing "going-away" present.

The soulful duo of Sepalcure (Machinedrum & Praveen Sharma) are finally going abroad to make the kids out in Europe fall in love with their emotionally engaging sounds, going to Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris and London with fellow Hotflush luminaries such as Scuba/SCB, George FitzGerald and Sigha. Also, if you’re in London on the 17th, don’t you dare miss out on seeing them with the badman James Blake. What has impressed me about Sepalcure is the simultaneous evolution of their live show and productions; it’s always changing into something more personal, more demonstrative of how much they pour into the tunes they make. With their second EP, Fleur coming out in January via Hotflush, the duo has graced URB with a fantastic live session they did on a radio show that they frequent, Percussion Lab Radio.  There is no tracklist (you don’t need one, just listen to it) but there’s all good vibes. Mix link and EU tour info after the jump.

Released by Ostgut Ton

This is the first mix CD from dubstep pioneer Scuba, aka Hotflush label curator Paul Rose. The mix is based on the successful SUB:STANCE parties at Berlin’s club Berhain. Originally from London, he’s been pushing dubstep in Berlin, and with this mix he showcases the vitality of UK bass music. 24 tracks cover the full spectrum of the burgeoning dupstep scene. From moody ambient, to jungle breaks, 2-step and rave.

FaltyDL: Sleep-Deprived Soul Shuffle

The sound of New York provided by Barbara Streisand?

4AM is a time to sleep for most, getting back home from a long night for some, or staggering back to the bar for last call for a chosen few. But for others, it’s time to get to work. FaltyDL is one of those late-night/early-morning workhorses; making tunes from the depths of his mind and getting it onto an iMac at odd hours of the day and night, just trying to figure out what to do with samples, synths and shuffles once he’s in the zone. Drew Lustman, the man behind the moniker, carries on his days by listening to new tunes, tweeting over new releases and old-school hip-hop, eating Chinese food on internet broadcasts and proudly proclaiming his appreciation for ’90s jungle and Aphex Twin. But …
