Jean Grae finally signs UK duo's hip-hop credentials

Jean Grae is so fucking hard. Put her in a studio with the UK's most innovative hip-hop producers and a slew of ripping MCs and you've got Take London. This decidedly English release, led by funky-gritty producer team, The Herbaliser, moves through comic book horn hits, lush strings and clicky hip-hop beats like a smooth, sneaking teenage delinquent. Generals is a role call featuring Jean's hand picked crew, which includes Trap Clappa, Cheech Marina, Daddy Mills, AK and her 12-year-old ...

Horizon EP

Released by Outergaze

Sure the EP format can be a great opportunity for an artist to show range, but the sound on Mayaku's 'Horizon EP' is so all over the place it's hard to get a grasp for what his niche is. The Pnuma label is an offshoot of Soma, something that immediately becomes apparent upon listening to their tunes. Soma itself has always put forth releases that skirt between several genres and this track by Let's Go Outside is no exception. Borrowing bits and pieces from electro, techno and house results in the debaucherous 'I'll Lick Your Spine,' featuring glassy melodies offset by a husky erotic voice trying her darndest to seduce the listener.

Noise

Released by Masterplanet

'"Noise' has a mantra that says, 'it is a shame to wait 'til tomorrow,' with organic vocals, violin, beatboxing and subtle looping. Haven't heard anything quite like this."
