Brooklyn natives, Ravens and Chimes, create soul music for suburbanite kids, with a carefree, naiveté not commonly found in indie rock. They somehow manage to combine a dark, big city sound with the spirit and lightness of a pop song, tough not nearly as disposable. Mellow guitar strumming, tinkling xylophone, held back drumming, and swooning vocals make every track off their EP, Reichenbach Falls, sound like samples from a 60s romantic comedy. Though Ravens and Chimes sound is distinctively popish, their tracks range from subtle heart-break ballads to hectic, pulsing rock songs and sweeten your blood with every listen.
